Register, scores and reports

The register, the scores and the report card.

Teachers take attendance on a phone and enter CA and exam marks for a whole class on one screen. The report card builds itself out of what they entered.

The Chalka Teacher app taking the register for JSS 1A: nine children marked present, one absent, and a save button at the foot of the list.
Third term Mathematics scores in the Chalka Teacher app, continuous assessment out of 40 and exam out of 60 for each student in the class.
How it works

A term, from the first roll call to the report.

  1. Step 01

    Take the register

Open the class, mark all present, change the few who are not. Every roll call is saved against the class and the date, so the term's attendance is already counted.

  2. Step 02

    Enter the marks

CA and exam, the whole class on one screen, side by side. The save button counts what changed before it commits anything.

  3. Step 03

    Release the report

Each report shows what is still missing. When a class is complete the teacher submits it for review, and the parent sees it when the school releases the term.

Built for the report card you already issue

The report card has to look like yours.

Parents keep report cards for years. Yours already has a shape, and it should not change because the marks were typed on a phone.

CA + Exam

The split schools actually use

Continuous assessment out of 40 and exam out of 60, with the total and the grade worked out the way your school already works them out.

Remarks

Teacher and head remarks

The class teacher's remark, the head's, and the trait ratings, on the same sheet as the marks rather than on a separate piece of paper.

Reviewed

Nothing reaches a parent unchecked

A report is submitted, reviewed, and only then released. A teacher cannot publish to parents on their own.

Straight answers

What proprietors ask about results.

Can we keep our own grading scale?
Yes. The boundaries and the grade letters are set per school, so the report card comes out in the format your parents already recognise.
Our teachers each take five classes.
The app opens on the timetable with the current period marked, and under it the registers still owed today and where each class stands on scores.
Will parents see marks before we are ready?
No. Scores stay inside the school until the school releases the term. Until then a parent sees that the report is being prepared, and nothing else.

See a term of your own results.

Fifteen minutes, no cost. Bring one class and we will show you the register, the scores and the report card they produce.
